Karen Thomas
Karen Sri K. Thomas is a freelance writer and researched based in Melbourne, Australia. She has a diverse background in education, languages, business, research and writing. She spent her early childhood in Adelaide in Australia, and moved to Melbourne at the age of 9 where she has lived since.
Karen received a PhD in Southeast Asian Studies from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Graduate Diploma in Business from Swinburne University, Melbourne. She has received numerous scholarships, bursaries and awards throughout her studies and working life. She has taught Indonesian Language and Writing courses at various Universities, and until recently owned and managed a successful tutoring business.
With her Eurasian (Indonesian-Australian) ancestry, she feels lucky to straddle two very different cultures that give her writing a unique and colourful perspective. She is currently completing a novel and co-authoring a book on the Arts of Lampung, Sumatra.
Having four children of her own (two singletons & twins), Karen Thomas understands the challenges that parents face as children grow anddevelop.
